News about the renovations at IKEA Hotell

Remodelling and renovation began in Spring 2026. There’s a lot to do, and we expect to finish the project in autumn 2028. The hotel will remain open while the work is being done, but at slightly reduced capacity. And sometimes, there might be a bit of noise and mess.

What has been done so far?

The hotel entrance has already been moved to the end of the building closest to Bäckgatan. Breakfast will be served at Grillen restaurant, across the street from the hotel. There will be some temporary changes during the project, to ensure we can keep running the hotel as efficiently as possible.

Parking Information for hotel guests 

There are currently a number of development projects underway in Älmhult aimed at strengthening IKEA in Älmhult for generations to come. We are renovating and expanding our IKEA Hotell, building a new museum and improving outdoor areas and green spaces.

For a while, parking options will be affected, and the attached map gives you a good overview of all parking options near IKEA Hotell and the IKEA Museum. All parking areas shown on the maps below are free of charge. Fees may apply if you need to charge your electric vehicle.

Which parking areas are available and which are closed off will change rapidly during the coming period, so please use the attached map to help you find a spot. Our hotel staff can provide more information when you check in.

What else is happening?

The front building will be replaced by a new and more functional hotel and restaurant building. The rear section, closest to Bäckgatan, will be renovated to make all rooms functional with enhanced comfort and quality. During the renovations, around 170 rooms will be available to book. Once the project is finished, we’ll have close to 300 rooms and a brand new conference and event space.

Forest and a pool!

As part of the renovations, we’ll also be giving the outdoor environment some love. We plan to create a leafy courtyard with the feel of a Småland forest. We’re also delighted to announce that there will be a small indoor swimming pool.
